Google Enhances Translation
Posted November 17th, 2009 | in Google, Lead Story, News | No Comments »Gogle has added three new features to its Google Translate tool:
- Instant Translate
The “Translate” button is still there (for now), however Google will now translate as you’re typing. - Phonetic Translation
If you’re translating to a language with a script you can’t read – for example, in my case, Chinese – you can now click the (clumsily titled) “Show romanization” button to get a phonetic spelling - Text to Speech
Click on the icon to hear the translation. Currently this only works when translating to English which is a shame, hopefully Google will extend this top more languages in the future.
Google Translate currently works with 51 languages which Google says represents over 98% of internet users.
