The Search Engine With No Name
Posted November 10th, 2009 | in Lead Story, News | No Comments »Normally when companies put out press releases they want their product’s name to be as prominent as possible. Not the case with a certain forthcoming search engine: according to the press release the product is staying anonymous for now.
The search engine, whatever it’s called, has apparently built by a British firm in association with Dutch and American technology companies and has “received key backing from some of the most financially iconic figures globally”. It claims that on launch it’ll have indexed 21% more pages than Google (before or after Caffeine goes live?).
And… that’s about all we know. We don’t know who’s behind this new entry in the highly competitive search market (contact email is lebeuf-pr@gmx.com) nor even what the engine will be called. We do know that it has high hopes: it will apparently “change the everyday user experience online”, “be the first real rival to Google’s world wide domination” and “will outrival Google in market share” by September 2012.
I wish them luck but to be honest I’m not expecting that rubber tree plant to move any time soon.
