Bing UK Delayed
Posted November 10th, 2009 | in Lead Story, Microsoft, News | No Comments »It looks like the UK version of Microsoft’s search engine Bing has been delayed. Marketing reports that the UK launch of Bing won’t now happen until 2010 with marketing activity delayed until at least Q1 2010, possibly later.
The problem appears to be inadequate localisation: Bing UK needs to be more relevant to British users and have more UK specific categories. That makes sense, we Brits are sensitive about that sort of thing.
Still, it seems that Bing have got one piece of localisation right: I for one feel quite at home hearing the announcement “We regret that the 20:09 search engine has been delayed due to category failure”.
